Testimonials

After the tea was sipped and the cookies were eaten, Sharon and John had given all the potential brides a lot to think about. We were able to interview two different future brides, Kathy Duckworth and April Boisseau, who were willing to share their opinions with us about the event, Stan Hywet, and their forthcoming weddings.

Kathy and her fiancé have already put money down to host their wedding at Stan Hywet, and came to the event looking to get a more extensive view of the grounds. "We wanted to get a better look around the place, and Robert's family was in from out of town so it seemed like the perfect time," Kathy said.

This echoed well what Sharon and John had mentioned to the blushing brides, "that family is such an important part of the process. No one wants to be left out." Both Kathy and her fiancé were surprised to find that some of the information given to them during the tea and presentation was actually quite beneficial.

Her fiancé Robert was especially interested in what the presenters had to say about the invitation process, including not only who to invite but how informative the invitations should be. "I never knew there was a way to write invitations, other than R.S.V.P.," Robert joked. He had a lot to learn from Sharon and John, however, in terms of making the wedding invitations inclusive, direct, and informative.

April is not fully committed to having Stan Hywet as her location for her wedding, but she was also happy to find that the tea and presentation offered a lot of information for her. "Those guys [Sharon and John] were informative and downright helpful for how a bride should go about her planning process," April said.

However, April was much more critical of the presentation than Kathy, who had already chosen this venue and clearly had a more knowledgeable background. "I wanted some more information on the site itself, and more of a focus on the grounds than the wedding itinerary," she said.

She even suggested ways for the event to be improved. "I would like the event to include a guided tour instead of the self-guided portion at the end. That way they could really paint a picture for me, instead of doing it myself," she said.

Overall, both brides seemed pleased that they had attended the tea. They both left with information they didn't have before and lots of things to think about as their wedding plans move forward down the aisle. As Sharon told the brides in the beginning of the presentation, "You should always be smiling." As the brides, including Kathy and April, left the carriage house to head towards the manor and grounds, they certainly seemed to be smiling.
