Stan Hywet

Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens is Akron’s only National Historic Landmark and historic house museum. It ranks thirty-fourth on the list of largest houses in the United States. The 70 acre notable Tudor Revival mansion is visited by tourist from all over the country as well as the local community. Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens is known as a place of elaborate grounds in which represents the prominent life of Frank Augustus Seiberling who was an American inventor and founder with architectural aspirations. F.A. Seiberling and his wife built Stan Hywet between 1912 and 1915 as a place of residence.
After the passing of both Mr. & Mrs. Seiberling in 1955, the remaining Seiberling family donated Stan Hywet to a non-profit organization so that the public could enjoy and experience a noteworthy chapter in American history. Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens welcomes guests as warmly today as it did a century ago.
